Miners’ ski team takes second, sends 10 to state

The Nevada Union Ski team captured second-place in the Central II Division and will send 10 skiers to Ski State next month.

Davis won the division finishing nearly 150 points ahead of the Miners in the standings.

“This season went really well,” Nevada Union Ski coach Ken Ramirez said. “Davis finished second in state last year and didn’t really lose anyone. They are a large team with lots of depth and we had some good competitions with them.”

Four members of the girls team will move on to state with three of them, Elisse Lockhart, Jeneanne Richert and Allison Chappel being named to the all-division team.

Freshman Colin Casey was the lone Miner boy to be recognized for the all-division team.

“I think we could potentially knock Davis out (at the state meet),” Ramirez said. “They take only the top three scored at state instead of the top four like during the regular season, so we just need everyone to stay up to have a chance.”
