Miners out of playoff picture

Nevada Union’s varsity boys soccer team lost its chance to make the playoffs Friday by finishing in a 2-2 tie in the Sierra Foothill League finale at Roseville.

Rocklin, Granite Bay and Del Oro are the three teams from the league to advance to the playoffs.

Senior captain Jeremy Adams scored both goals for the Miners, who finished 14-5-3 overall and 5-5-2 in the SFL.



Adams ended the season with eight goals and 10 assists, while Blue Smith and Jose Calderon each finished with 10 goals and four assists. Dan Volpi scored eight goals and four assists, and keeper Robby Slaughter had nine shutouts.
