Miners mash Johnson

The Nevada Union baseball team scored 15 runs in the first inning to cruise on to a 20-2 thumping of Metro Conference opponent Johnson.

“We hit 14 guys before they even got an out,” Nevada Union baseball coach Ted White said.

Junior Dan Stith got the win on the mound giving up two runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts in four innings of work.

Senior centerfielder Dan Rackley went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and 3 RBIs while junior catcher Daniel Graning added 3 RBIs himself after going 2-for-3. Brian Jordan, a senior shortstop, went 2-for-2 with a double as Steven Davis went 2-for-2 as well. Senior designated hitter Peter Ruiz went 2-for-3 with Sean Wall adding a double.

The Miners (8-8, 6-2) play again at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at home against McClatchy.
