Miners fall to Jesuit

The Nevada Union boys basketball team fell behind Jesuit on the road Thursday, staged a rally and finally fell short of the win.

Tony Parilo scored a team-high 17 points and Kelib Thompson added 13 points in a 63-55 loss at Jesuit of Carmichael.

Jon Sheets chipped in nine points.

NU (15-10 overall, 5-4 Metro League) trailed by two points at the break, but were outscored 23-13 in the third quarter.

“They did something we’ve been able to stop other teams from doing this season,” said Nevada Union coach Jeff Dellis. “They got out and ran a bit in the third quarter. That got them some cheap baskets.”

The Miners put together a run of their own, capped with two three-pointers by Gary Daley, to pull within five points, but it wasn’t enough to catch Jesuit down the stretch.
