Migliozzi, French wrap season at state meet

Nevada Union distance runners Garrett Migliozzi and David French concluded their sensational season’s Friday in Clovis at the CIF Track and Field State Championships.

Migliozzi, a junior, finished 17th in the 1,600-meter with a time of 4 minutes, 16.59 seconds.

Migliozzi came into the race seeded 26th out of 35 competitors but improved nine spots and beat out Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet champion Trent Brendel from Granite Bay, who finished 18th.

The top 12 runners advanced to today’s meet finals. Stockdale’s Blake Haney takes the top seed into the final race finishing Friday’s prelim in a time of 4:13.05.

French, a senior racing in the 800, also placed 17th, finishing with a time of 1:54.17. French’s time was just 1.07 seconds slower than the NU school record.

Ridgeview senior Ivan Gonzalez tallied the top time in the 800 with a mark of 1:51.60.
