LWW golfers ‘Fight Like a Girl’ for breast cancer awareness

The 10th Annual Pink Ribbon Golf Tournament at Lake Wildwood Golf Course was a success, raising $8,500 in the fight against cancer.

All proceeds from this “Fight Like a Girl” tournament will be used locally.

Lake Wildwood Ladies 18 Hole Golf Club and the Lake Wildwood Lady Niners Golf Club teamed up as “Sisters in Golf” to raise money for Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center. The funds from this year will help pilot a new Integrative Medicine program for breast cancer patients. The Nurse Navigator and an Integrative Medicine specialist will support women and men seeking to blend mainstream medical treatment with alternative options. Funds donated will also help women who receive mammogram screenings and need help with additional tests.

Lady golfers enjoyed playing a fun Step Aside – Scramble with many special events for fundraising on the course. After golf, 110 ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Katy Orellana from At Your Service.

Executive Director of Sierra Memorial Hospital Foundation Kimberly Parker presented an update on the various programs at the Women’s Imaging Center.

Chairperson Denise Stein introduced the new General Manager of Lake Wildwood, Debbie Casey. Debbie was welcomed with a pink shovel to use as she oversees building a new clubhouse at Lake Wildwood.

Members donated 30 raffle baskets and several silent auction items.

The Pink Ribbon “Fight Like a Girl” team of Denise Stein, Jane Butler, Janice Pucci, Pat Lang, Linda Campbell, Orene Sanders, Kelly Mullaly Kim Rodriquez and Barbara Law thank everyone for their support.
