Locals shine at Silver Dollar

Area racers shined in wingless sprint action Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

Leading the way was Browns Valley’s Cody Myers, who finished second in the A feature and third in the third heat. He was followed closely by Grass Valley’s Billy Wallace, who wrapped up the night in third in the A feature and fifth in the B feature.

Grass Valley’s Jay Youngman was 10th in the A feature after taking fourth in the fourth heat while Browns Valley’s Mason Myers was 17th in the A feature, fourth in the B feature and seventh in the first heat.

Action heated up again on Saturday at Placerville Speedway as Nevada City’s Mike McClure came away with victories on both his heat race and the A feature. Burney McClure wrapped up his night with a fifth-place in the A feature after winning heat one.

Grass Valley’s Dan Brown Jr.’s struggles continued. After winning six of his first seven races this season, Brown has been plagued with car troubles the past two weeks and his season is in jeopardy. In the end of Saturday’s pro stocks races, Brown finished sixth in the first heat and 10th in the A feature. Brown has a week off to work on his car and is hoping for the best in two weeks.

Pacific sprints action saw Colfax’s Colby Wiesz take second in the A feature after finishing fourth in the second heat. Grass Valley’s Billy Wallace, meanwhile, grabbed 11th in the A feature after finishing second in the first heat.

Grass Valley’s Pat Harvey Jr. finished 13th in the A feature of the Golden State Challenge – King of California Series race Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway. Harvey was 4th in the 410 sprints B feature and seventh in the second heat.

Updated points standings at Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway were not available at press time.

Grass Valley’s Jeremy Burt saw some success during Saturday night’s Pacific sprints race at Marysville Raceway Park. After winning the second heat, Burt took fifth in the main event to remain atop the driver standings with 358 points so far this year.
