Local Roundup: Strong opener for Falcons

Forest Lake Chrisitan’s varsity volleyball season got off to a strong start Friday night, as the Falcons swept through Wilton Christian in three games.

The Falcons won their season and home opener 25-23, 25-16, 25-12.

“We got stronger as we went along,” said FLC coach Laura Allred. “They had some really tall girls, so they had a huge block up front. Once our girls got the fact that they’d have to hit around them, we were just creaming them.”

Jen Menary set up much of the FLC hitting attack, totaling 22 assists and serving up six aces on the night. Caitlin Hanson was the heavy hitter with 13 kills, while Morghan Pomeroy and Tasha Haddad added seven and six kills, respectively.

FLC (1-0) travels to Sacramento Country Day Tuesday.
