Local Roundup: NC teams move forward in tourney

Nevada City Jr. Red Sox beat the Auburn Tigers 13-5 Monday at the Twin Oaks Park field in Rocklin.

Catcher Rob Wood went 4-for-5 with five RBIs to lead the Red Sox.

Miles Ward and Fuller both had two RBIs and Jake Hofheinz went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Greg Callison pitched 5 1/2 innings with Isaac Cuellar and Conner Fuller contributing to the effort.

The Red Sox next play Thursday at the Rocklin Park against Tri-City.

Nationals 13, Reds 10

The Nevada City Sr. Nationals rallied with six runs in the top of the seventh inning for a come-from-behind win against the Lincoln Reds, 13-10.

Glenn Hogan was credited with the win, pitching the last two innings. Dylan Hadley, Travis Milhous and Zach Dahlgren also pitched for NC.

Hadley led the Nationals’ offense with three hits while Hogan added two hits. Brad Pyzer, Lawrence Reese, and Ryan Zink also had hits in the game.

Shortstop Josh Cena and catcher Wes Cross made key defensive plays.

Nevada City next will play Bear River for the District 11 Championship Saturday.
