Miners walk on Johnson

The Nevada Union girls basketball team dismissed Metro Conference foe Hiram Johnson easily Friday night with a 59-22 victory at Johnson.

“It was a good overall game,” said Nevada Union coach Duwaine Ganskie. “All nine players scored tonight, so it was good to see everyone contributing.”

Senior Olympia Jacobs led the way for the Miners, pouring in 16 points while sophomore Sarah McAtee added 13.

The Miners next face rival Grant at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nevada Union.

Bear River 67, Mira Loma 33

The Bruins girls basketball team upped its Pioneer Valley League record to 8-1 (16-7 overall) with a road rout over Mira Loma.

Bear River was led by in impressive performance from Lauren Juric, who led the team in points (13), rebounds (nine) and steals (four).

Kristin Landre added 12 points while Chandre Uno scored nine. Erin Noud and Kaitlyn Spence each scored eight.

Uno joined Juric as the team leader in steals with four while Noud led the team with four assists.

The Bruins return to action again at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with a trip to West Campus.
