Bear River 6, Nevada City 1

Bear River’s 11-year-old All Stars advanced to the District 11, Area 2 championship game Wednesday by defeating tournament host Nevada City 6-1.

Chris Fox picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight while allowing three hits over six innings of work. Nevada City’s Alec Giron drew the loss after fanning five and allowing five hits in five innings on the mound.

Bear River was led by Andy Brooding’s 2-for-3 night, including a run scored, and Matt Veneman, who added a two-run single. John Sekerak had an RBI single for Nevada City, while Brock Kraus also singled.

Nevada City will face Grass Valley in today’s 7 p.m. consolation bracket final. The winner advances to Friday’s 7 p.m. championship against Bear River.
