Litchfield falls short of Olympics

Paul Litchfield, a Bear River alumnus and Idaho State graduate, made the final cut to participate in the Olympic Trials this weekend in Eugene, Oreg., but fell far short of Beijing with a 10th place finish in the pole vault.

Litchfield, who had to jump 5.5 meters to make the trials, was competing against the man who holds America’s record in the pole vault (he finished in third) with a 6.04 meter vault. The first place finisher topped 5.91 meters.
