Lady Bruins hold off Del Oro for win

In Loomis, Amy Pistone scored a team-high 13 points – including three 3-pointers – and Briana Thomas chipped in 12 more, as the Bear River girls basketball team beat Del Oro 63-59 Wednesday.

The Lady Bruins (11-6 overall, 3-0 Sierra Foothill League) led by 10 points with under two minutes left in regulation, but struggled from the free throw line late to keep the hosts in the game. The Bruins held off the run, though.

Chelsea Haverty, who drained a 3-pointer in the first half, sealed the win with a free throw with three seconds left.

Bear River’s Meaghan Noud scored 11, and teammate Maya Bryant finished with eight points.

Bear River will play at Oakmont of Roseville Friday at 7:30 p.m.
