Junior Bruins drop Woodcreek to move on

The Bear River Junior Bruins Jr Midgets squad moved to the semifinal round of the SYFC playoffs with a 25-12 victory over Woodcreek in Roseville Saturday.

The Junior Bruins jumped out to a 12-0 halftime lead before having to withstand a Woodcreek surge in the third quarter which saw them tie the game at 12.

However Bear River responded with a impressive time consuming drive capped off by Riley Mispley’s 1-yard plunge on fourth and goal. Forced to play catch up trailing 19-12 with three minutes left, Woodcreek was intercepted by Mispley who proceeded to run the ball back for a Junior Bruin touchdown to seal the victory for Bear River.

Playoff action will continue at 3 p.m. today as the Junior Bruins will face Franklin in the semifinals at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove.
