Irresponsible journalism

I speak only for myself when I say how heartbroken and disappointed I am in The Union’s coverage of the Nevada Union baseball incident, especially your printing of information from sources that would not give their names.

Perhaps before going to print, you should have spoken to Nevada Union parents who were actually involved, and not relied on a source that was given information second-hand. Printing hearsay is very irresponsible journalism.

I’m saddened that something that started out as such a positive opportunity, has turned into such a nightmare.

Ted White, I have to say that I have fallen in love with you all over again, as I watch how you are handling yourself. Through it all, your main concern has been for your players and their futures, just as if they were your own sons.

I, and many others stand behind you. Your reputation in the community, your desire to develop character in our young men, and your love and respect for the game are the true testament and measure of the man you are.

And yes, I will proudly give my name.

Shelly White
