Kristin Lawton and Bri Harris stood tall in the Bear River girls volleyball team’s season opener at Lake of the Pines neighbor Forest Lake Christian on Aug. 28.

Lawton tallied a match-high 15 kills and Harris chipped in 10 more in the visitors’ 10-15, 15-9, 13-15, 15-9, 15-12 come-from-behind win.

“In the first game, I think Bri was a little nervous, but she came out swinging in game two and three,” Lady Bruin head coach Keith Hart said.

The win was the first by Bear River over the perennial Sac-Joaquin Section Division V power Lady Falcons in at least four seasons.

“We wanted this match really bad,” Lawton said.
