Hitting heats up in Bear River Little League games

Bear River Little League action showcased solid pitching against red-hot hitting last week, with the hitters coming out on top.

Yankees 17,

Braves 3

The Yankees dished out a 17-3 loss to the Braves. Zachary Welz, Andrew Ritchart and Alex Fischer led the way for the Yanks. Welz was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ritchart was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Fischer also had a double and Gavin Glidewell went 2-for-3.

Diamondbacks 5, Indians 0

The Diamondbacks beat the Indians 5-0. The D’backs rode the strong pitching of Jeremy Brown, who threw a complete game shutout.

Brown pitched 6 innings with 14 strikeouts while allowing one hit and giving up two walks.

Bryant Chapman was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Elijah Creel also doubled. Lukas Teff was 2-for-3.

Bryan Sibis had the Indians’ only hit.

Braves 7, Yankees 3

The Braves defeated the Yankees 7-3.

Vince Viola was the winning pitcher.

Viola, Mitch White and Ken Giacomini all went 2-for-3. Chad Smith had a double.

Rockies 9,

White Sox 5

The Rockies beat the White Sox 9-5 in their matchup.

Tommy had a triple and two RBIs.


Jr. Miners earn Shrine Bowl selections

Five Jr. Miner football players and four Jr. Miner cheerleaders have all been selected to participate in the Sacramento (SYF) Youth Shrine Bowl, which benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.
