Grass Valley Post 130 falls to Auburn ballclub for second time in three days

Grass Valley’s Post 130 American Legion baseball team suffered its second straight setback to Auburn Thursday, falling by a 9-3 count at Nevada Union High School.

Ben Hicks drew the start, and the loss, on the mound after allowing six hits and seven runs over five innings of work. Steve Smith came on in relief and allowed two runs on three hits in two innings.

Josh Gauldlin and Matt Miraldi each went 2 for 3 at the plate for Post 130, while Nick Gaudlin doubled for the hosts.

Post 130 dipped to 8-13 on the summer season with the defeat and will travel to El Dorado High School for a doubleheader Saturday against El Dorado’s American Legion club.
