Grass Valley earns berth to title game

Home sweet home.

Grass Valley’s No. 1 team advanced to the championship game of the American Legion Senior Tournament Thursday by defeating Roseville 10-1.

The two teams will meet again at 1:30 p.m. today at Nevada Union’s Ted White Field for the tourney title. Because Grass Valley has not been beaten in the tournament, Roseville, which emerged from the consolation bracket Thursday, must win two games to lay claim to the crown.

Roseville earned a second shot at Grass Valley No. 1 by defeated Bear River 11-8 in the consolation bracket final.

Earlier on Thursday, Bear River defeated El Dorado by a 10-9 count to earn the berth in the consolation finals.

If Roseville is able to pull out a win in game one today, game two would follow at 5 p.m. today.
