Logan Lowe, a 2015 Nevada Union graduate, recently punched his ticket for the 68th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

Lowe earned his place in the amateur championship at a 36-hole qualifier at the Stanford University Course. Competing against 81 other amateur golfers at the Par-70 course, Lowe shot a 71 in his first round and followed with a 68 in his second round to finish one-under par.

Gavin Butcher, a Nevada Union alumnus, caddied for Lowe both rounds that spanned over 10 hours on the course.

Lowe was tied for 11th place after the first round, but shot up the leaderboard with a two-under par 68 the second round. Lowe was one of only three golfers to shoot below par during the afternoon round.

Lowe’s day was highlighted by sinking eagles on the par-5 No. 7 hole in both rounds. In the first round he hit a spectacular shot onto the green, leaving a 2-foot tap in putt for an eagle. In the second round, Lowe flew over the green, leaving him with a difficult shot, but he was able to chip in for eagle.

This year’s US Junior Amateur Championship will be held July 20-25 at Colleton River Plantation in South Carolina and will be broadcasted on Fox Sports 1. This will be Logan’s final junior golf appearance before he heads to Washington DC where he will attend George Washington University and proudly be a member of the men’s golf team.
