Local golfer Logan Lowe is one of 16 players left competing after four days of play at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.

Playing at the Colleton River Plantation Club in South Carolina, Lowe edged past his Round of 32 match play opponent, Brody Blackmon, needing 19 holes to advance. Blackmon brought the match all square with a par on hole no. 18 and Lowe carding a bogey, but Lowe claimed the match on the 19th hole with a birdie to Blackmon’s par.

Lowe was paired with Philip Barbaree in the Round of 16 and is all square through four holes. Play was suspended Thursday due to darkness and will resume at 7:30 a.m. today.

The event will be televised on Fox Sports 1 from 11a.m.-1 p.m. today and 11a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

At the start of the tournament, Lowe was among 155 other junior amateurs. He made it to the match play rounds after finishing tied for 42nd through two rounds of stroke play. In the match play Round of 64, Lowe knocked off Chandler Eaton, 6 and 4.

Lowe, a 2015 Nevada Union graduate, was named the Sierra Foothill League boys golf MVP in his junior and senior seasons and will be attending The George Washington University in the fall where he plans to continue golfing as a member of the Colonials golf team.
