Gold Country Gymnastics’ Girls Team competed at the Mardi Gras Invitational in Vallejo on Feb. 25.
Level 8, Katherine Magill earned first place on vault (9.1) and bars (9.425), and third on floor and in the all around.
The Level 7’s tied for the second place team award. Alayna Grapel led the way placing first on beam (9.325), floor (9.525) and the all-around (36.050). Contributing to the team award were Rachel Hadley and Emily Baker, placing second on vault (9.0) and sixth on floor (9.1) respectively.
At Level 6, Annika Brown won floor. Abby Hedenland took first on vault. Savannah Bellione placed third on vault. Allyson Pritchard placed fourth on beam.
Level 5, Peyton White placed first on beam. Carly Davenport placed fourth on vault and fifth on bars. Laine Ebert-Byg placed eighth on vault.
Level 4, Macee Babcock placed third on floor and ninth in the all-around. Following on her heels was teammate Paige Cambell placing 10th all around. Sienna Cambell placed 13th in the all-around and Bethany Nix finished 14th in the all-around.
Gold Country boys at Aquafina Pacific Coast Classic
The Gold Country Gymnastics boys team performed well at Pacific Coast Classic, the last meet of the regular season.
In Level 4, ages 6-7, Jeremy Hunt placed second in high bar with a score of 9.150.
In Level 4, ages 8-9, Jesse Unitt placed fifth in rings scoring 9.55 and fifth in parallel bars with a score of 8.9
In Level 5, ages 10, plus Drake MacDonald placed fourth in vault with a score of 9.3 and Steven Whittlesey placed second in parallel bars with a score of 8.9
Gold Country will have several gymnasts traveling to San Mateo for the state qualifying meet Saturday and Sunday.
The Gold Country Royals took home the silver in “The Madness Begins” tournament on March 3-4.
The top scorers for the weekend were Sarah Hagar (22 points), Kaylin Martin (16) and Sarina Orellana (16).
The Royals will be back in action on March 17-18 at B-Ball Town in Folsom.
