Forest Lake Christian puts on 3-point shooting clinic in win

The Forest Lake Christian girls basketball team relied on stellar 3-point shooting to score a 53-45 win Saturday afternoon against Bishop O’Dowd at the Sacramento Challenge at Center High School.

After all the dust had cleared, the Falcons connected from behind the arc 14 times.

“It was a solid defensive effort against a real storied program from the Bay Area,” Forest Lake Christian coach Steve Kellar said.

Kellar praised the rebounding efforts of sophomore Kylie Miraldi and senior MacKenzie Deneen who both pulled down 12 rebounds.

The Falcons (14-3 overall, 6-2 CVCL) host Forethill at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Bear River 45, Bret Harte 35

After playing a Pioneer Valley League game Friday night against Oakmont, the Bear River girls basketball team traveled less than 24 hours later to Center High School to take part in the Sacramento Challenge.

The Bruins came away with a 45-35 win against Bret Harte (Angels Camp).

Junior center Lauren Juric led the way with 16 points, while senior forward Kristin Landre totaled 12 points.

The Bruins (14-7, 6-1 PVL) host Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
