The Forest Lake Christian baseball team begins its playoff quest today at Tony Zupo Field in Lodi when it takes on Ripon Christian.

The Falcons (11-6, 7-3 Central Valley California League) enter the contest reeling from a pair of tough losses but will look to get back on track in the postseason.

Ripon Christian (16-8-1) also enters the playoffs on a two-game skid.

Both FLC and Ripon Christian finished second in their respective leagues, and both have run averages of more than eight per game.

Ripon is led by senior Dominic Nelson, who boasts a .610 batting average in 94 plate appearances and leads the team with 31 RBIs.

Forest Lake Christian will lean on its veterans, Kyle Soria, Jacob Yarborough, Hunter Phillips and Wils Riley. Soria, a sophomore and second-year starter, leads the team with 17 RBIs, Riley, a senior, batted .415 this season, Yarborough bats .353 with 10 RBIs, and Phillips brings his .383 average to the contest.

The Falcons and the Knights haven’t met this season and share only one common opponent, to which both teams lost. When facing Woodland Christian, FLC has been beaten twice, and Ripon Christian lost to Woodland Christian once, 9-0, in an early April matchup.

The Falcons and the Knights face each other at 4 p.m. today in Lodi.
