Flores falls in second round of U.S. Amateur

Grass Valley native and Nevada Union alumnus Erik Flores led Charlie Holland by two holes through the first eight holes in match play of the 108th U.S. Amateur Open, but faltered on the ninth, and finally 14th to fall into a tie before losing.

Both Flores and Holland played into extra holes, with Flores carding 2-over par on the 20th to give Holland the edge.

Flores returns to California to prepare for his senior year at UCLA on the defending national champion men’s golf team.
