FLC golf opens with win

Forest Lake Christian’s boys golf team opened the season with a 260-272 victory over Vacaville Christian Tuesday.

Falcon Jeff Pulliam led all golfers with a 41 while teammate Joe Tejada scored a 45.

Peter Burten carded a 56, Ian Shore shot a 57 and Chris Crew hit a 61 for the Falcons.

Miners fall in opener

The Nevada Union boys golf team fell 186-217 Tuesday to Granite Bay, a team that finished third in the state last year.

“They’re a dynamite team,” NU coach Hank Davidson said.

Chris Schalker led the way for the Miners, firing a 40 on nine holes. D.J. Milligan shot a 41 while Moritz Bruwer shot a 42.

“It was a good test for us and a chance to see them play and figure out who is going to play on varsity and who on JV,” Davidson said.

Falcons soccer loses

The Forest Lake Christian girls soccer team fell 2-0 at Modesto Christian Tuesday night. No other information on the game was available at press time.

Soccer game called

Tuesday’s girls soccer game between Nevada Union and Bear River was called because the soccer fields at both schools were too wet to play.

It was still undecided Tuesday night whether the game would be made up, but Bear River athletic director Jack McCrory said it was unlikely a game would be rescheduled.
