Kathy Wyatt landed a hefty trout using a Needlefish on lead core line about 40 feet down. Jim Osborn of Nevada City trolled a German Brown lure at 25 feet and landed two nice trout, the largest was 2 pounds, 8 ounces.

This was a good week for catfishing. Alan Moore had a huge stringer of catfish, with the help of his friend, Gary Musick. Alan’s biggest cat was a 13 pounder. They used chicken livers or anchovies and fished into the night. Dave and Mark Zaski brought up a 5-pound cat they landed near the bridge on anchovies.

As long as the weather stays warm, the sunfish, crappie and bass should be very active near the surface. This time of year, you can almost guarantee catching something form the dock or in any brush pile along the shoreline. Since these fish will feed on bugs that land on the water, they are unable to resist any temptation a fisherman throws their way.

Lake conditions – Lake level: 29 inches down; Surface temperature: 82 degrees; Day temperature: High 90s; Night temperature: High 60s.

Frenchman Lake

Hot weather and the full moon has slowed up the bite. There are a few limits here and there, but for the most part you really have to work for them. Fish early or late. Use powerbait or worms. Also, some have had good luck with the Dick Knight lure. Troll this behind flashers. Catfish are really biting at Turkey Point.
