Falcons flatten Sac Lutheran

Thursday night was Sacramento Lutheran’s introduction to girls basketball, Central Valley Christian League-style.

The welcome mat looked better to Forest Lake Christian, however, which rolled to an 81-13 victory in its league opener at home.

It was the ninth straight victory for Forest Lake, which improved to 11-1 overall. Four players had season highs Thursday, three of them posting double-doubles in the process.

Jessica Miller led Forest Lake with season-high 16 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Teammates Chrysten Cotney (14 points, 10 assists),

Julia Hall (13 points, 10 rebounds, six steals), and Katie Boddorf (12 points, 11 rebounds) rounded out the group of players with season-best performances.

Forest Lake’s junior varsity team also won in convincing fashion, 71-27. Lindsay Hayward led the JV team with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Forest Lake next plays against Sacramento Waldorf on Saturday.


Jr. Miners earn Shrine Bowl selections

Five Jr. Miner football players and four Jr. Miner cheerleaders have all been selected to participate in the Sacramento (SYF) Youth Shrine Bowl, which benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.
