Extremely insulted

I was surprised when I received a phone call from my fellow captain, Shannon, Friday afternoon. She directed me to the sports section of The Union where I found a ghastly article condemning cheerleaders, featuring a photograph of our squad, the Nevada Union Miners. After reading this article, I was extremely insulted. The author described a squad wearing outrageous pink and green outfits during halftime, yet the Miners have never worn this outfit or anything similar to it. Nor did the author mention what team did wear this, forcing readers to believe the squad must have been the Miners since that was the picture featured with the article. The author compared our routines to “explicit rap videos” when only last week the coach of the Yuba City squad praised us for being one of “the most tasteful squads.” I think it’s inexcusable that Jeff Miller finds this year proper to harass and criticize cheerleaders given that we have suffered a horrendous loss, the death of one of our own, Savannah Feinburg. As far as I can tell Jeff Miller is desperately searching for material for his articles; maybe next week he should search harder for something more concrete.
