‘Endurance’ in NC

The documentary film “Endurance” depicts the ill-fated 1914 Antarctic voyage of Sir Ernest Shackleton, whose entire crew survived being stranded more than a year after their ship was caught and crushed in sea ice.

On April 4, a Sonoma County man who took the same route as Shackleton during the winter of 1998-99 will give a 70-minute video presentation in Nevada City to the Sierra Foothills Audubon Society.

Rich Kuehn will talk about his four-week voyage on the Akademic Loffe, a Russian ice-strengthened ship. The video will include birds and mammals, such as Kuehn’s visit to a colony of 1 million black-browed albatross and another colony of half a million kingformation, call David Michael at 478-6183.
