Division V – Another day, another rout for Forest Lake

Forest Lake Christian girls basketball coach Steve Kellar expected the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs to bring with it a higher level of difficulty. He was right, but barely. It was more like a quarter-step up.

In another blowout at home Thursday, the Falcons beat Turlock Christian 75-26. The margin of victory was slightly smaller than Tuesday’s 78-16 win over Sac. Adventist.

Forest Lake is having no trouble defending its No. 1 seed, dropping its last two opponents by a combined 153-42.

Thursday night’s effort was led by Taylor Kilgore, who led all scorers with 23 points.

Brooke Hodges and Brittany Allen completed the group of double-figure scorers for the Falcons with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

All three girls were members of last year’s section champion Forest Lake team, and even though two key players from last season have left, the Falcons are in good position to earn another section title.

“It’s really fun,” Kilgore said. “The jitters are not there now that we’ve had experience.”

The Falcons will leave their nest Tuesday to travel to Galt High School, where they will take on No. 4 Ripon Christian who knocked off No. 5 Victory Christian Thursday. Kellar looks forward to the meeting between the two teams – he would like to settle some scores from past years with Ripon.

“They’ve smacked us around in the past,” Kellar said. “That’s who we’d like to play in the semi(finals).”

After dishing out two crushing victories in the past three days, the Forest Lake faithful have been left asking one question:
