CrossFit: Havard in the mix at CrossFit Games

The Reebok CrossFit Games are underway and local athlete Shaun Havard is making her presence known once again.

The 2016 CrossFit Games champion in the Women’s Masters Category (60-years-and-older) is back in the mix of contenders at this year’s competition, currently in second place after three events.

Competing against 20 other qualifiers in the Women’s Masters division, Havard took fourth place in the Run, Swim, Run event (1.5 mile run, 500-meter swim, 1.5 mile run). She grabbed third place in the Bar Fight event (12 clean and jerks, two rounds of 15 toes-to-bars and 12 chest-to-bar pull ups, and 12 more clean and jerks). And, In the Sprint O-Course event (an obstacle course) she placed fourth.



Havard currently has 256 total points, trailing leader Patty Failla by 12 points. Alison Locke is in third place with 246 points. Havard still has three events left in the competition which wraps up Sunday.

Will Havard, Shaun Havard’s son and a Nevada Union graduate, is also competing at the Games. He is in the Team category as a member of the Oakland based EndGame Athletics team. They currently sit in 27th after two days of competition.
