County man and crew post world record speed in ’34 Ford

Richard Clelland drove a 1934 Ford coupe with a flathead Ford engine an officially recognized 140.17 MPH.

The speed breaks a record set in 1990 for the XFGCC (flathead vintage gas) class.

Clelland was assisted in building the car by a group of Bonneville-loving “gearheads” in the Roamin’ Angels car club known as “The Buzzards,” who served as his pit crew.

For more on this story, be sure to catch Tuesday’s edition of The Union, which will feature Clelland and The Buzzards.
