Correct this problem

The stall was killing basketball, so the rules committee put in the shot clock.

Quarterbacks were getting killed, so the rules committee put in the “no spear” rule.

The intentional walk is killing baseball. (Today it is Bonds, tomorrow it will be A-Rod, Pujols, etc.) It is time for the baseball rules committee to establish the “Barry Bonds rule.”

My idea is: any intentional or unintentional walk in one game … the first two, batter awarded one base. The third walk, batter awarded two bases (same as a double). Fourth walk, batter awarded three bases (same as triple). Fifth walk – and all ensuing walks – batter awarded four bases (same as home run).

Opposing managers will have to think twice before they order third, fourth, fifth, etc. walk in one game.

That’s my idea to “correct this problem.” I am sure there are other ideas that can “correct this problem” but … Let the players play!
