Often sports can carry a bigger purpose than what happens between the lines.

That was the case this year when a youth recreational basketball team dedicated their season to Megan Peterson, who is battling breast cancer.

In support of Peterson, a group of young ballers, grades 3-4, named themselves the Pink Warriors and donned pink uniforms.

Not only did the young hoopsters visibly show their support, they excelled on the court, finishing the season 7-0 in the Grass Valley Recreational League.

The Pink Warriors are comprised of James Kinney, Yaqub Mir, Ryne Allen, Brian Hurst, Keisen Hayden, Chase Nye, Aiden McKenna, and coaches Jeff Nye and Justin McKenna.
