Column was unfair

Hello, my name is Brittney Shust and, being a member of the Nevada Union cheerleading squad, I was hurt by a column written in today’s paper titled “Cheerleader pros and cons.” Are they really needed?

Our most gifted cheerleader passed away halfway through our 2005 football season. We came together as a squad and devoted our year to Savannah. It’s an insult to us as a squad when we have spent so many hours at the fair and in front of numerous supermarkets passing out The Union newspapers and supplying your newspaper with new subscribers.

We have never performed in neon pink or green costumes and find it rude to dampen another squad’s attempt to pump up their crowd. We are a sport and halftime is our time to show our school what we have been practicing all week. Our picture is displayed with the article and therefore promotes that it’s directed to us.

We have worked hard as a squad and I don’t think we need to be bashed on about our sport.
