Colfax football hits the road for 3rd straight week

The Colfax football team hits the road once again Friday for it’s third straight away game of the season.

The Falcons are 1-1 in their previous quests, and will look to rise above .500 when they face the Dixon Rams tonight.

The Rams are also 1-1, having beaten Woodland 33-27 to open the season, but were stomped by Vanden 44-0 in their second game of the season.

Dixon leans heavily on their run game and senior running backs Nathaniel Short and Angel Garcia.

Short, a 5-foot, 11-inch, 175 pound back opened the season with a 173 yard, two touchdown performance, but was held in check against Vanden. Garcia also scored two touchdowns in their season opener, but was shut down against Vanden as well.

So far this season Colfax has been able to move the ball via the run with Tim Rawlins topping the century mark in both games and reaching the end zone four times already this season. The Falcons have also got help in the run game from Lukas Rineer who has 104 yards on 17 carries this season.

If the Falcons are able to pull out a win against the Rams it would bode well for them to have a winning record after a brutal road trip to start the season.

The game gets started at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Dixon High School.
