Bruins face struggling league foes

Bear River fans might have a tough time finding a close contest this week in any sport, as most of the Bruins scheduled foes rank at or near the bottom of Pioneer Valley League standings.

The Bruin volleyball team (8-8 overall, 5-2 PVL), which currently stands in second place behind PVL-leading Colfax, will host Mira Loma, which has come up empty in all six of its league matches, Thursday.

Bear River’s soccer squad (6-5-2, 4-3-2) travel to Mesa Verde that same day, facing a Maverick team that has a 2-11 overall record and a 1-6 league mark.

On Friday, the Bruin varsity football team (3-3, 2-1) hosts winless West Campus (0-6, 0-3) – the second-straight week Bear River has faced an opponent that has yet to wind up in the win column. The Bruins went on the road to beat Mira Loma (0-6, 0-2) by a 36-0 count last week.
