Bruin linksters fall

The host Bear River girls golf team dropped a 234-307 decision to Bella Vista of Fair Oaks at the Lake of the Pines Tuesday.

Bella Vista’s Ashley Dickman and Lauren Kane each carded a nine-over-par 44 to take co-medalist honors.

Jessica Benzler (53) finished seventh to lead the way for the Lady Bruins.



Miranda Guidera and Nicole Scott each shot 62s to finish tied for eighth.

Liz Maurer (64), Sarah Nelson (66) and Emily Collins (67) also competed for the hosts.




Bear River (0-1 overall) will begin Pioneer Valley League play on the road against Johnson West of Sacramento Thursday.

Bruins fall 5-0

The Bear River boys soccer team lost 5-0 to host Marysville Tuesday.

“We’re passing better than we have all season, but we still have some defensive issues to work on,” Bruin (0-1 overall) head coach Dave Molina said.

In the junior varsity match, Bear River’s Jacob Murnam tied the score with a second half penalty kick, but the hosts hit the back of the net twice more to win 3-1 .

Bear River will travel to Auburn to play Placer Thursday at 4 p.m., with the junior varsity to follow.
