Brown wins Pro Stock ‘A’ Feature

The Union Staff

Dan Brown Jr. was back in action at Placerville Speedway last week after a couple of weeks off and enjoyed a successful night, winning the Pro Stock ‘A’ Feature in a seven-car field.

He started in the back of the heat, but was able to work his way through traffic to finish second behind Ray Trimble in qualifying. He lined up outside front row for the race and at the green flag Brown and Trimble ran side by side for the first lap until Brown was able to take him on the high side in Turn 3 and 4 and come out ahead.

Brown led the remainder of the race while being chased by both Trimble and Thomas Arbogast, but neither got close enough to challenge for the lead. He went on to win his eighth race of the season and sixth in a row. Currently, Brown leads in championship points by a margin of 57.

Infineon Raceway

Nick “Nitro” Sommers, 9, made his first trip to Infineon Raceway last week, racing in the 80cc go karts.

In his first outing, he qualified No. 1 with a new track record but after the semi-main he had a fuel violation, which dropped him to the very back in the main event. Fifteen laps later, with great driving and passing, Sommers took second in the race.

This year, Sommers took second in races at Reno, third at Dixon and Davis and is currently second in point for the championship in his category.
