BR Bruins stymie Roseville

Matt Logue drilled a two-run home run and Seth Miller struck out six as the Bear River baseball team beat host Roseville 7-5 Monday.

Bear River improved to 8-4 overall and one game under .500 in the Sierra Foothill League at 3-4.

The Bruins led 5-1 going into the fifth when Logue seemingly slammed the door with the long ball.

The hosts, who were out hit 14-5, made a game of it with a four-run sixth, but Bear River held on for the win.

“That’s typical. I don’t know what happens to us (late in the game),” Bear River head coach Mike Viola said. “In the past, the other team would have scored enough runs to take the lead and then we would have had to play catchup. So it could have been a lot worse.”

Craig Chandler went 3-for-3 with a double. Logue finished at 3-for-4 and also chipped in a double.

Joey Mar also went 3-for-4 and had a team-high two doubles. Miller went-3-for-5.

Bear River will play at Placer of Auburn 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
