BR boys lose basketball tilt to Grizzlies

The Bear River boys basketball team mounted a comeback, but came up short against Granite Bay Friday. The Bruins lost 72-63.

“We tied it at 50-50 at the end of the third quarter, but they outscored us 22-13 in the fourth,” said Bear River coach Jack McCrory. “That was the game really.”

After falling behind early, the Bruins scratched back in the third, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Granite Bay led 21-15 at the end of the first period. The Grizzlies were ahead 41-32 by the halfway mark.

“I was pleased with the way the team came back,” said McCrory. “At halftime I asked them to catch them by the end of the third and they did. But when it came down to crunch time, (Granite Bay) put it in the hole and we didn’t.”

Bear River outscored Granite Bay 18-9 in the third, but had the tables turned in the fourth

The Bruins were led by the 15-point effort of Matt Logue. Dean Wibbenhorst and Gopal Gabrera both had 12 points for the Bruins.

Bear River will next face Del Oro at home on Tuesday.
