Good things happen for Bear River when Cody Yeager has the football.

The junior halfback, who ran for a team-high 150 yards and a touchdown in his varsity debut Sept. 13, hit paydirt twice in Bear River’s 20-12 home field loss to Del Oro of Loomis Friday.

Yeager turned an otherwise ordinary screen pass into a 57-yard score as the hosts drew first blood.

He gave Bear River a 12-0 lead with an eight-yard run five minutes later.

“We try to get him the ball in different situations and places and let his athleticism take over a little bit. And that’s exactly what happened on that screen pass,” Bruin head coach Scott Savoie said.
