Bear River soccer opens on high note

Bear River’s varsity soccer squad came blazing out of the gate in its season-opener Tuesday against Golden Sierra, blanking the Grizzlies 6-0 in nonleague action.

Jonathan Robinson led Bear River with two goals and an assist. The senior assisted Matt Gallagher on the game’s first score and followed with the next two goals, off an assist from his brother Jacob Robinson and Blake Newman.

Seniors Jory Gemignani and Reilly Raab each also scored a goal, while Jacob Robinson capped things off with an unassisted goal.

Walker Britt pitched the shutout in goal, which Bear River coach Sukum Sai Ngarm said was his first game between the pipes for the Bruins.

Bear River returns to the field Sept. 7 at Marysville.
