Baseball heats up on Little League diamonds
Bear River Little League featured strong performances around the horn in last week’s games.
Riding the arm of winning pitcher, Dylan Ozanich, the Rockies beat the Indians, 11-5.
Ozanich pitched 2 1/3 innings and had six strikeouts while giving up five hits. He also sparked the offense with 2-for-3 hitting, including a triple and 3 RBIs.
Garret Smith and Patrick Miller both had singles for the Rockies.
Matt Donely had a double and 2 RBIs for the Indians.
Diamondbacks 10, White Sox 3
Lukas Teff led the Diamondbacks offensively with 2-for-3 hitting, including a double and an RBI. Bryant Chapman, Drew Loftus and Jeremy Brown added singles.
The White Sox were led by Adam Doxtater who had a double and two RBIs.
Bryant Chapman got the save.
The Yankees were led by Zachary Welz, who was 2-for-2 at the plate, with a double and two RBIs.
The Rockies’ Garrett Smith and Trevor De Schryver both had doubles.
Andrew Ritchart started on the mound for the Yankees, going 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts and five hits. Patrick Scott came in for the save.
White Sox 3
Matt Donley had four strikeouts while giving up no hits for the Indians in 2 innings. Bryan Sibis got the save.
Tim Merry went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Indians with a triple, a double and one RBI. Donley was 3-for-3 with a double.
Elitt Golnik had a double for the White Sox.
Diamondbacks 7, Braves 3
Stephen Hilton led the Diamondbacks, hitting 2-for-3 at the plate, including a triple and 3 RBIs. Drew Loftus and Michael Yamma both had two hits.
For the Braves, Dalton Wirick went 2-for-2 and Vince Viola had a triple and an RBI. Matt White had a double.
Bryant Chapman was the winning pitcher and Hilton recorded the save.
The Yankees rode strong hitting to an 11-8 win over the Rockies. Andrew Ritchart went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Patrick Scott had a triple and two RBIs. Zachary Stroh was a perfect 3-for-3. Joseph Lomengello was 2 of 4 at the plate.
For the Rockies, Garrett Smith had a triple. Dylan Ozanich, Patrick Miller and Trevor DeSchryver each had a double.
PV Little League’s Giants nail combined perfect game
Tyler Vaughn and Rich Benevento combined for a 4-inning perfect game, as the Penn Valley Giants defeated Grass Valley’s Yankees Tuesday night, 16-0.
Vaughn pitched three innings, and Benevento the fourth inning of the Giants second game of the year. Tucker Colomb provided plenty of offense, with 4 RBI off a home run and two doubles. Zander Ziefler went 3-for-3 with 4RBI in the victory.
