Alumni Notebook: Roenicke fans 2 in loss

Josh Roenicke, a 2001 Nevada Union graduate and pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, appeared in just one game in a three-game series versus the Cleveland Indians after Major League Baseball’s All-Star festivities.

In Sunday’s 7-1 loss against the Indians, Roenicke completed the eighth inning and didn’t allow any hits or runs and struck two batters. Cleveland starter Justin Materson kept Minnesota’s bats silent as he flirted with a no-hitter until the seventh when he finally surrendered a double. The Twins finished with only two hits for the game but managed to take two out of three in the series.

The Twins (41-54) open a seven-game road trip against the American League West division and face the Angels beginning today.
