Alumni Notebook: Roenicke bounces back with strong outing
Former Nevada Union three-sport star Josh Roenicke had a bit of an up-and-down week coming out of the bullpen for the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training action last week.
On March 22, Roenicke was tagged for two earned runs in 1 2/3 innings of work in an 8-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. But three days later, Roenicke threw a perfect sixth inning for the Blue Jays in a 5-1 loss to the Tigers in a split-squad scrimmage.
In 6 1/3 innings of action this spring, Roenicke has compiled a 4.26 earned-run average while allowing eight hits and three earned runs. He also has five strikeouts against four walks with one hit batter.
Here’s a look at how some athletes with local ties fared recently at the college level:

On the season, Miraldi is hitting .289 with 22 runs scored, 14 RBIs, five doubles, a triple and a home run. He’s also 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.
