Alumni Notebook: Alcombrack continues to climb

Here’s a look at how some athletes with local ties fared recently at the college level:

BASEBALL

Robby Alcombrack (Bear River, ’06); Gulf Coast League Indians (Cleveland Indians) – Alcombrack continues to play well, continuing to raise his season average after a slow start. Alcombrack only saw action in two games this week but was 1-for-3 in both and now sits at .246 on the season. Monday he had a double, an RBI and a run scored during a 5-4 loss to the Phillies. He added a walk to his stats during Wednesday’s 5-1 win over the Tigers. He didn’t see action on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, while Friday’s game was rained out.

Josh Roenicke (Nevada Union, ’01); (Chattanooga Lookouts) – Roenicke only saw action once this past week, pitching the last inning of a 9-2 win over Birmingham on Tuesday. Roenicke pitched a perfect inning and struck out one, lowering his season ERA with Chattanooga to an impressive 1.80.

Gary Daley (Nevada Union, ’03); Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) – Daley remains on the disabled list.
