Here’s a look at how some college athletes with local ties fared recently:

BASEBALL

Justin Deme’ (Nevada Union, ’03); CSU-Sacramento – The freshman pitcher gave up one hits and no runs over two innings en route to his fourth win of the season in a 6-5 decision over CSU-San Jose Saturday.

Gary Daley (NU, ’03); California State Polytechnic University-San Luis Obispo – The freshman pitcher gave up eight runs on eight hits and struck out one in two innings’ work in a 27-2 loss to CSU-Fullerton Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Christina Guerland (Bear River, ’03); Yale University (New Haven, Conn.) – The freshman second baseman went 1-for-2, scored a team-best two runs and had three putouts in a 5-1 loss to Brown University (Providence, R.I.) Saturday.

Lindsey Roark (BR, ’00); University of California-Davis – The senior infielder went 1-for-4, had two putouts and an assist in a 3-0 loss to CSU-Bakersfield Saturday.

Michelle Mathis (BR, ’03); St. Mary’s University (Moraga) – The freshman second baseman went 1-for-3 with two RBI, scored a run and had four assisted putouts in a 6-1 win over UC-San Diego Sunday.
