Alta Sierra Women’s Golf Club held their 47th annual Invitational Golf Tournament Aug. 28-29 at Alta Sierra Country Club.

This year’s theme was Stars & Stripes Forever and a lot of red, white and blue was worn by the participants.

There were 116 golfers representing 28 golf clubs including one from Washington and one from Nevada. This is the largest tournament of the year for the women and a lot of time and effort goes into the planning of this event. There were three flights representing red, white and blue. The white flight winners were Doreen Lewallen and Jan Core from Alta Sierra and Marianne Kuhn from Saddle Creek and Lura Gibbons, formerly of Alta Sierra.

The blue flight winners were Linda Fritz and Barbara Quinn from Alta Sierra, Nancy Fuller-Wilson from Lake Wildwood and Barbara Tagg from Half Moon Bay.

Winners of the “Horse Race” were Sara Elser, Carolyn Michelsen, Peggy Hubert and Donna Carter. Winning the putting contest was Carter of Nevada County, earning a round of golf at Catta Vedera CC. The winner of the chipping contest was Sally Steman of Table Mountain GC, earning a round of golf at Rancho Murieta.
